Introduction To MTB
Join us as we introduce you to all the skills you will need to safely and confidently progress your riding, if you are brand new to the sport or returning after a break. We meet at 10 am and after looking at our goals for the day and checking our initial set up move through a variety of activities using our proven coaching formulae that add up to a complete Intro to MTB package. By lunch time you’ll be ready for a bite to eat before taking your new found confidence out on to the trails to really experience MTB at its best.
Experience Required: No previous experience
Coaching in Individual bike setup, skills check, gear selection, fundamental climbing and descending, cornering & braking, guided ride and “on trail” individual coaching points.
Want to ride smoother and faster with control and confidence over the technical features of the trail? Let us unlock your full potential and put you in control. This course is designed to give you the full range of fundamental skills to take your riding to the next level.
Experience Required: Some experience of riding off road terrain or a willingness to ride this level.
Individual bike setup, skills check, cornering (advanced and berms), braking, gears and cadence, climbing and descending, line choice, pumping the trail, jumps and drops, riding technical/loose/rocky terrain.
Pines To Peaks
Our big weekend package to see you progress your riding from the forest to tackling some of the most beautiful and adrenaline filled riding in the UK. You’re a confident rider but the thought of venturing into the rocky and technically demanding Peaks isn’t something you are sure you can handle YET. This two-day course packs all of the teaching of our skills syllabus into an experience you will want to repeat again and again.
Day one sees us meet at Sherwood Pines and puts your riding on track for a day in the hills on day two. Our second day sees us meet in the High Peak for a coffee and a warm by the fire of our favourite café before we head to one of many routes we will tailor to the group and the prevailing weather (local expertise counts for a lot). We progress into the hills where as we journey our team will coach “on location” some of the specific skills needed for tackling this beautiful terrain. We might spend some time sessioning classic descents amidst the backdrop of the stunning pine clad hillsides or tackling the single-track flow fests that lie all around us. Either way we guarantee this weekend will leave you exhilarated and fully equipped to return for more. We take these rides seriously with hours of peaks riding and guiding experience under our belts. So there are no excuses, make the move from Pines to Peaks with Alliance.
One To One Coaching
We take pride in our work and the experience each and every one of you receives, being part of a learning group is a fun experience and everyone always learns loads. But sometimes getting the full attention of a coach, dedicated to progressing the day at your pace and suited to your explicit needs can’t be beaten.
Here at Alliance MTB we specialise in one to one coaching, our team of staff have a proven track record of developing riders quickly and effectively, be that beginners wanting a rapid head-start to boost them beyond their mates or advanced riders needing close scrutiny of technique.
Our team have diverse skills and we begin by finding out what you want to achieve or what you feel is holding you back, building the day around you from the very beginning.
We operate from Sherwood Pines or take advantage of the new Lady Cannings trail that sits on the edge of the Peak District in Sheffield, or build a day around a location of your choice subject to travel arrangements.
Got a bunch of buddies that want to do a course? No problem! We can tailor a day or even a full weekend to any format for a totally private course where you will get our totally undivided attention. Family/Children’s MTB Skill Sessions
Alliance MTB are proud to offer coaching for families with children. These sessions based at Sherwood Pines will enable you to make the most of your family time on two wheels, giving you the skills, confidence and control to have a great time outdoors.
Run by Andy our British Cycling Youth Development Coach, our sessions are suited to Children who are using geared bikes and who are able to follow the instructions of our coaching staff (this applies to bigger people too). As a rule we work with Children of ages 6 and above, however with prior arrangement/consultation this age may be adjusted.
During the session you will cover: bike Setup, general bike maintenance, body position, braking, cornering and gear selection.
As a grown up you will learn all of the above, plus some tips on how to develop and continue the learning of your accompanying child.
As a child you will have buckets of fun and grow your skills and confidence (your grown up will probably do this too).
Each session can be booked for a pairing of one adult and an accompanying child, we can also offer tailored family group sessions and additional children or adults can be added to group sessions for an additional charge.
